Bricks 4 Kidz franchise opens

Bricks 4 Kidz, a franchise that teaches the fundamentals of STEM education - science, technology, engineering and math - through motorized LEGO models, has opened locally.

Local franchise owner Melani Lyons opened the center his month at 4903 Plank Road in Spotsylvania. The business will hold a ribbon cutting this Thursday at 4 p.m. A May 21 grand opening will feature prizes and raffles and give children a chance to try its services.

Lyons said the service offers after school classes, summer camps, open play and preschool courses.

"It's a great hands-on opportunity for kids to learn," she said.

Bricks 4 Kidz, founded in 2008, now operates in more than 40 countries.
