Sterlington Mayor Vern Breland said a stand-alone Hardee's, the franchise's first store in northeastern Louisiana, will be located on U.S. 165 North near the Fish House restaurant.
Breland said he hopes construction on the Sterlington Hardee's begins within 90 days for an early 2016 opening.
"We appreciate the continued investment in our growing town from developers who recognize this is a great place to do business," said Breland, who always welcomes new sales tax revenue into his town. "Hardee's will be a new franchise to the parish, so I believe it will draw people from outside Sterlington as well." Balsamo said he will build the first two Hardee's in Sterlington and Farmerville with plans for future stores in Monroe, West Monroe and Ruston.
Hardee's is the latest new restaurant franchise to either enter or re-enter the market.
Texas Roadhouse opened in West Monroe earlier this year to a packed house and West Monroe couple Kelly and Michael Quarles brought Dairy Queen back to western Ouachita Parish late last year. The Quarles' Dairy Queen was so busy the Ouachita Parish Police Jury asked the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to consider placing a westbound turning lane.
