Mooyah chain bringing its burgers to Wisconsin

Friday, January 23, 2015

Mooyah Burgers Fries & Shakes, a Plano, Texas-based chain, is bringing its burgers to Wisconsin this summer, adding up to 10 locations in the next three years and becoming a potential competitor for Culver's.

Mooyah will open its first in-state locations in Fitchburg and Brookfield this June. In Brookfield, Mooyah will open at the plaza in Brookfield Square Mall before exploring expansion opportunities, primarily in Waukesha County and Milwaukee County. Brookfield Subway franchisee Punit "John" Jaiswal will lead that charge.

The brand spent 2014 aggressively expanding nationally and internationally. That rapid growth mode will be in full effect in Wisconsin, as Mooyah seeks franchises in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha, Racine and Appleton.

Much like Wisconsin's Prairie du Sac-based Culver's chain, fast-casual Mooyah makes its case on fresh ingredients and better quality than your typical fast-food burger stop. In a press release announcing its presence in the Wisconsin market, Mooyah touted its baked in-house artisan white or multigrain wheat buns, hand-crafted lettuce wraps, American-beef patties, Jennie-O turkey patties and veggie burgers.

Aside from Wisconsin, Mooyah's 2015 expansion plans include Atlanta, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Tampa and Cincinnati. In the Twin Cities alone, it hopes to open 13 new locations.
