Papa John's Pizza Franchise Sells To Former Wichitan

Monday, December 22, 2014

After almost two decades in business, Terry Newman and Frank Carney have sold their Wichita Papa John's Pizza franchise, which includes 10 restaurants and a site at Intrust Bank Arena.

"It's been one of the very hardest processes I've had to go through," Newman says. "It's finally the right time in my life." He and Carney still own 14 Hawaii Papa John's sites.

Former Wichitan Matt O'Donnell, who now lives in St. Louis, is the new owner.

"He understands the local lay of the land real well," Newman says.

He says he believes O'Donnell will be involved in the community as he was.

"I think that (he's) going to take every phone call that I took." Newman is still working on a new Mexican restaurant concept, which he hopes to eventually franchise, at Regency Lakes at 21st and Greenwich.

"I'm not going anywhere. I love this community."
