Originating in Dothan, Alabama, Club Sun Tanning salons grew under the leadership of Julie George to more than 20 locations in Florida and Alabama in 30 years.
Club Sun is merging with tanning superstore Palm Beach Tan, which has more than 350 locations nationally.
"The time has come for me to try my hand at a few other ventures," George said.
Existing Club Suns will merge into full Palm Beach tans in the coming months. The signature Palm Beach towel has already replaced paper towels at Club Sun locations and logos are gradually being converted to blue from orange.
Current members of Club Sun don't need to worry about rate changes. Membership dues under your current contract will not change.
If your monthly fee is automatically drafted, the only change will be that instead of Club Sun listed on your bank drafts, it will say Palm Beach Tan.
The staff will also remain the same.
Brands of suntan lotion and skin care will change, as well as accessory lines and pricing for new members.
Club Sun will still be monitoring their Facebook page for customer feedback and further information is available at every salon.
