Founded by Tyler Kirk, Labor Panes beginnings started out of necessity after most employers were not willing to even consider Kirk for positions because of his hearing disability. Rather than dwell on this, Kirk decided to start his own business--Labor Panes and now has begun franchising his business nationwide. "Losing 90% of my hearing made me even more focused on being successful. I knew I would have to work harder to make the business thrive. And my hearing challenges are minor compared to what others struggle with." (Kirk) When Kirk began to consider franchising his successful business, Kirk asked franchise veteran Tom Fenig who founded Outdoor Lighting Perspectives in 1998 and co-founded Mosquito Squad in 2005 to take a close look at his business.
After a year of study, In the fall of 2012 Fenig recommended Kirk reinvent Labor Panes by positioning his company as a homeowners single source for not one but over a dozen important home services. Examples including: dryer vent cleaning and repair, gutter repair and replacement, window cleaning, painting and repair, light fixture cleaning and lamp replacement, and home air filter replacement, deck cleaning, restoration and protection to name just a few. " While Labor Panes was successful as a window cleaning company, I felt that the savvy franchise investor would immediately see the benefit of a business that is essentially several franchises in one. My research supported the idea that busy, quality oriented homeowners prefer to deal with one trusted company that can professionally handle a wide variety of customer needs." Labor Panes began offering franchises in early 2013, and as Kirk puts it, "The Bloomberg article supports our multi-service business model - and our first franchise sale is the first of many we forecast this year." About Us Labor Panes Franchise is owned by 3 individuals: Tyler Kirk, Tom Fenig and Jim Connelly. Tyler Kirk who started the Charlotte, NC location in 2005 is responsible for operational support and new service development. Tom Fenig leads franchise recruitment and strategic planning because of franchise development experience with two other brands,. Jim Connelly, who managed marketing and technology for Fenig's two previous brands, has the same role with Labor Panes Franchise.
