Yogurt Franchise Owner: From College Graduate To Franchisee

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

Simran Lamba graduated in May and will open his first Red Mango store in Fairfield, Conn.

As new college graduates polish their resumes and prepare to enter the workforce, a growing crowd of 20-somethings is emerging with dreams of owning a business and working for themselves.

Simran Lamba is a perfect example. Lamba, who graduated in May, will go straight from the classroom to running his own Red Mango frozen yogurt and smoothies location, joining one of the fastest-growing frozen yogurt franchise chains in the country. Lamba recently signed a franchise development agreement to open a brand new Red Mango location at 1955 Blackrock Turnpike in Fairfield, Conn.

"I come from a family of entrepreneurs," said Lamba, who grew up helping his mother run a successful apparel business. "And becoming a business owner is my opportunity to apply the knowledge I've gained in college and the skills I've acquired to serving guests healthy, fun frozen treats at Red Mango." Lamba plans to make his business a family affair. His mother, Rose Lamba, will help operate his store, the second Red Mango in the state.

"I grew up on Long Island, where there are almost 50 Red Mango locations, so I've seen the success and popularity of the brand grow," Lamba added. "The products are delicious and nutritious. Once I decided to open a Red Mango, I knew Fairfield was a great spot to introduce our convenient products that are perfect for health-conscious guests on-the-go." Red Mango offers delicious all-natural flavors of frozen yogurt, smoothies and parfaits along with the concept's newest product, Skinny Sorbettos, which are probiotic infused, softly frozen dairy desserts, inspired by the artisanal sorbets made famous in Italy. Customers can garnish their yogurt with healthy, natural toppings including fresh fruit, nuts and granola as well as fun toppings like tasty cheesecake bits and yummy yogurt chips.
