For the past six years, IL FORNELLO Restaurants have celebrated WinterDelicious by offering three course, affordably priced, Prix Fixe dinner menus. However, for the 2008 WinterDelicious menu, IL FORNELLO President, Ian Sorbie was determined to honour the commitment the restaurant chain made in June of 2007 to offer their customers menu items created entirely from 100% locally produced ingredients - year round. Executive Chef Owen Steinberg was given the task of developing delicious "all Ontario" appetizers, entrees and desserts for the WinterDelicious, 2008 menu and the results are impressive.
Between January 7 and February 13, 2008 IL FORNELLO customers will be able to enjoy an appetizer, entree and dessert for the very affordable price of only $25.00 (taxes and tip not included), but choosing only three items from among so many tempting choices could be a challenge.
The menus will change during the six weeks of WinterDelicious at IL FORNELLO, but Appetizers on the first menu include Roasted Organic Butternut Squash Soup, Organic Arugula Salad or Baked Goat Cheese Salad. The Entree section of the menu features Lasagna, Roast Leg of Lamb, Rigatoni with Smoked Chicken, Chicken Parmigiana, Vegetarian Pizza on Organic Spelt Crust and what has become one of the chains most popular menu items, the All Ontario Burger. The IL FORNELLO All Ontario Burger is made from naturally raised beef and served with a signature double garlic, basil mayo and either sweet potato fries or a beet, cucumber and Boston lettuce salad in a honey yogurt dressing. Even the bun is made from Ontario flour! Three tempting dessert options round out the WinterDelicious menu: Pumpkin Panna Cotta; Maple Cheesecake; or Apple Crumble.
So for those whose New Year's resolutions include reducing their carbon footprint, supporting the local economy, adhering to the Hundred Mile Diet, or just enjoying delicious food, the IL FORNELLO WinterDelicious menu is the perfect answer.
