The sale is the second in a planned series of area developers rights since Jantize� Charlotte general manager Paul Dorsey took over management of the company promising accelerated expansion into major markets and unparalleled corporate support for area developers. The first area developer initiative brought Jantize� to the Orlando, Florida market.

Dorsey explained that Chess was brought to his attention by Metropolitan Franchise Brokers, a strategy that Dorsey hopes to replicate in other markets. "The business broker channel is an important part of our growth strategy. In the past, we have developed prospects primarily through print advertising and word of mouth, with mixed results. Now we realize what a valuable resource brokers can be, and have developed a marketing package specifically designed to assist them in promoting our opportunity." For his part, Chess says the decision to purchase the Raleigh/Durham area developer rights was a no brainer. He has been in the franchising industry for the last 15 years and enjoyed success as an employee for two major competitors.
"I realized that given the opportunity to do this business on my own, there would be no doubt I would be just as successful if not more," says Chess. "What I liked best about the Jantize� opportunity was the chance to live my dream, which was to own and operate a janitorial franchise business. I also have a deep passion to provide the same opportunity for others to live their dream as well, of being an entrepreneur and as successful as I have been. My commitment is to become one of the top janitorial service providers in the area and look forward to helping others in growing their own businesses as well." Chess also feels the business climate in Raleigh-Durham was particularly ready for the Jantize� concept.
"We have so many new office buildings under construction; and millions of square feet of office space. I can't help but believe it's a great time and place to start a commercial cleaning business." Chess has already secured four unit franchise owners while signing four customer contracts he has begun servicing just one month into the business. "With my background in the janitorial industry," he says, "I'm confident we have an advantage in recruiting and supporting quality unit franchisees, as well as customers." His plans call for 10 new unit franchisees in the first year. "Ten new franchisees in 12 months is certainly not an aggressive goal," Chess adds, "but with the corporate support of Jantize� America and my own marketing and sales resources, I think it's a realistic goal."
