Dockers San Francisco, one of the nation's leading lifestyle apparel resources, today opened its second company-operated retail store in the United States at the Westfield San Francisco Centre. The new Dockers store offers a full range of head-to-toe men's and women's apparel and accessories and also features exclusive products not available through other U.S. retail channels, including products from the brand's Europe and Asia divisions. The 4,661 square foot loft-style store incorporates sustainable natural materials, such as reclaimed teak and redwood, which reflect the eco-friendly sensibilities of Dockers's hometown of San Francisco. Dockers opened its first standalone U.S. location in Tampa this past June and will open three additional retail locations this fall in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Freehold, New Jersey. More than two decades ago, the Dockers' brand pioneered an entirely new apparel category with the introduction of khakis as the alternative to dress pants and jeans. Since then, the Dockers' brand has had a tremendous influence over the menswear category and the way men dress. With more than half of the men in the U.S. owning at least one pair of Dockers' pants, the demand remains strong across all age groups. Dockers' women's product offering has grown significantly to include a full range of tops, alternate length pants, skirts, dresses and footwear. Product highlights include: - The Dockers' Never-Iron Collection: An exclusive Dockers' line that is machine washable and provides a "straight from the dry cleaner look" right out of the dryer. Never-Iron products include shirts, pants and blazers, made with luxuriously soft fabrics that keep their stylish edge throughout the day - perfect for the office and business travel. - Truly Slimming: Pants for women featuring a slimming panel that comfortably flattens the tummy and a Dockers' Individual Fit waistband for added comfort and stretch to create a slimming silhouette. Eco-Friendly Design Elements From floor to ceiling, every element of the store's design is intended to showcase the brand's San Francisco-inspired style and eco-friendly sensibilities. The storefront and interior resemble the warm yet modern look and feel of a SOMA loft, incorporating reclaimed teak from demolished buildings in South East Asia and redwood lumber reclaimed from wine storage tanks used at the Wente Vineyards in Livermore, California. The polished plaster, glass and metal features provide contemporary details. In addition, the "green" design includes a fresh perspective on furniture, paint and adhesives, all of which were selected to improve indoor air quality. Many of the materials used in the store's design and construction are GREENGUARD certified for their low chemical emissions. Brand Momentum Dockers' brand sales have grown every quarter since late 2005. Earlier this year, the brand announced that U.S. Dockers' net revenues rose nearly six percent for the 2006 fiscal year, accounting for nearly 20 percent of total company sales. The Dockers' company-operated stores mark the next phase of brand growth, providing consumers with visibility and access to the most comprehensive Dockers' product assortment found in the United States. The company-operated store initiative will allow the Dockers' brand to test new product and merchandise concepts that will be shared and leveraged with the brand's retail accounts.
