Local, Area Businesses Show Support For Festival Motorcycle Show

SALLISAW | Wednesday, May 02, 2007

Local and area motorcyclists are encouraged to come out and participate in Sallisaw's Diamond Daze Centennial Festival, Poker Run and Motorcycle Show scheduled for Saturday at the Sallisaw High School on west Ruth Street.

Registration for the poker run begins at 9 a.m. at the Bikers Making A Difference (BMAD) tent, which will be located near the parking lot at the northeast corner of the Sallisaw High School building.

Buddy Holt with BMAD said poker run participants must purchase a $15 poker hand that will pay the winner 50 percent of the total amount taken in for the best hand and $50 for the low hand. All hands must be true poker hands.

Riders will enjoy a scenic 65-mile ride throughout the county, with the first riders out at 9:30 a.m., and the last riders out at 10 a.m. All poker run participants should arrive back at Sallisaw High School no later than 12:45 p.m. just in time to enter their bike in the Big Diamond Daze Festival Motorcycle Show, scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. There is no entry fee for the show.

An independent panel of judges will select the top 10 Best of Show motorcycles at the show, and the winners will be recognized and presented a trophy on the festival main stage at 4 p.m. A photographer will also be there to take photos. BMAD members expressed their thanks and appreciation to all of the following local, and area businesses who have sponsored the trophies for the motorcycle show and invite them to come present their trophy to the winner at 4 p.m.

a The sponsors are Corgill's Yamaha of Poteau, Casey's Motor Sports & Service in Sallisaw, Bad Bikes in Dora, and Wild Horse Mountain Bar-B-Que, Fullbrights Auto Wash, Caporales Mexican Restaurant, Iron Post Smoke Shop, Sallisaw Tractor Supply, BJ's One Stop, Mr. Jiffs, and Simple Simon's Pizza, all of Sallisaw.

"We also want to express our thanks and appreciation to Sequoyah County Times and staff, and the other sponsors for their support of our community and the Sallisaw Diamond Daze Festival," Holt said. "Area motorcyclists and residents are encouraged to show your appreciation by patronizing our local and area businesses who support our community."
