The Northwest Forest Conference Center continues to further develop its staff, selecting Walt Watzinger as vice president and general manager of Northwest Forest Conference Services.Watzinger brings extensive experience in the hotel, restaurant and travel industries in Africa, the United States and Canada. In the U.S., Watzinger has acted as an independent consultant for various start-up hotel operations and in planning and development, through construction, staffing, training and opening of several resorts. His consulting practice includes corporate training for major petrochemical, energy and governmental entities. He was also vice president of Acadian Railway Company, operating luxury passenger train tours throughout the northeastern U.S. and Canada and a hotel and 250-seat restaurant in Maine. Watzinger began his career at the Zimbabwe Sun, the country's largest hotel chain. Later, as general manager for Rovos Rail, Africa's premier passenger train dubbed "the most luxurious train in the world,"Watzinger directed operations of Rovos' Victoria Hotel as well as two of its luxury passenger trains carrying tourists for guided safaris conducted throughout the African continent.
