It's not very often that the words "catering" and "gourmet" are used in the same sentence, but thanks to City Kitchen, that is changing. With a menu that emphasizes product quality, presentation, nutritional value and customer service, City Kitchen appeals to upscale, professional and health conscious consumers in search of quality alternative menus to those offered by everyday food delivery businesses. The menus have been created by Executive Chef Ken Brown who is always searching for the best quality ingredients and who keeps an eye out for current food trends so the menus keep pace with the culinary world. The concept offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and appetizer menus. One of the breakfast options is the Power Breakfast where for $9.95 per person, the menu features fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh baked bagels, plain or vegetable cream cheese, fresh cut seasonal fruit, a choice of: Italian vegetable frittata with mozzarella cheese or a turkey sausage frittata with caramelized onions + cheddar cheese. For lunch, one can choose from a wide range of sandwiches such as fresh grilled vegetables with goat cheese and basil aioli; smoked turkey with cranberry mayonnaise spread; grilled chicken breast with roasted sweet peppers or grilled ahi tuna with asian slaw + wasabi mayonnaise. Dinner highlights include sliced yakitori tri-tip steak over caramelized shiitake mushrooms with soy ginger and scallions; pacific salmon steamed in a banana leaf and rubbed with lemon zest, parsley and shallots; baked breast of chicken stuffed with smoked gouda cheese and granny smith apples; apricot glazed turkey breast stuffed with spinach + mushrooms and fresh grilled shrimp over checca with artichoke hearts and capers. Prices range from $7.95 to $14.95 per person with a ten person minimum. City Kitchen also offers an extensive appetizer menu. A franchise concept, City Kitchen offers both a business-to-business as well as a retail component with City Kitchen Caf�, the first of which recently opened adjacent to the catering facility in downtown Los Angeles. The City Kitchen brand was founded in 2001 by Craig Albert and Michael Bernstein, the owners of Flavor Firm, a holding company that also owns Tacone and The Counter.
