Under terms of the agreement, Hood Corporation of Santa Fe, N.M., will build a minimum of five new restaurants over the course of the next five years. Mike Hood, chief executive officer of the Hood Corporation, indicated that the first restaurant will be built in Espanola, with additional outlets in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and other cities yet to be determined.
The announcement was made by Ron Stilwell, president of the rapidly expanding company that currently has 77 restaurants opened or under development in the states of Arizona, California, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Florida, Mississippi and Ohio. The development agreement with Hood is the fourth major multi-unit agreement announced since the beginning of the year, Stilwell said. Stilwell indicated he and Hood hope to identify specific locations in Espanola, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and other cities in short order, with the first new restaurant expected to open late in 2005 or early in 2006. All of the new restaurants will feature Eatza Pizzas new prototype design that includes large redemption game areas that appeal to families and children, along with the companys new expanded menu. Like Arizona, New Mexico is perfectly suited to our concept, Stilwell said, that provides great food and great value for our customers. We are excited about having Michael as our new franchise partner in the Land of Enchantment. The new prototype restaurants will incorporate 5,000 to 7,000 square feet and be located in highly visible and easily accessible shopping centers in close proximity to neighborhoods where families reside. When you look at Eatza Pizzas most successful operations throughout the country, you quickly realize they are situated in vibrant shopping centers within easy driving distance of a number of residential neighborhoods. Our New Mexico sites also will incorporate some of these same characteristics, Stilwell said.
The Eatza Pizza concept continues to be well received by the American dining public, Stilwell said, with most of our restaurants showing double-digit increases in same store sales over last year. Our goal is to create a mainstream brand image that will resonate with families looking for a quick and enjoyable dining experience at an affordable price. Value Pricing, Quality Ingredients Value pricing and quality ingredients remain the key to Eatza Pizzas success. Pizza selection is virtually unlimited. Customers may choose from an array of freshly baked pizza selections or make specific requests for their own individual favorites.
