Big Picture Framing Opens Its First Franchise!

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS | Thursday, September 30, 2004

In September 2004, the newest location for Big Picture Framing opened its doors at 2044 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge right outside Porter Square.

“The response has been unbelievable,” says Michael Wilson, Big Picture Framings’ first franchise owner, “I thought we would have a chance to sort of ‘ramp up’ before we got busy, but business took off from day one!” Not that he’s complaining. “Most of the customers who came in were neighborhood residents who’d been watching us put the store together during August and decided to give us a try. It was wonderful to have so much local support, and I’m pleased and proud to note that many of our first customers are return customers as well.” Wilson is a newcomer to framing, having arrived at it by way of careers in theatre, T.V., financial management, and arts and education fundraising. It was after leaving his last job in fundraising about a year ago that his wife-to-be introduced him to Big Picture Framing by way of a co-worker. “I actually began talking to them before they’d fully formalized the franchise program. With a proven concept like Big Picture Framing, the decision was easy." Michael Wilson is a good fit for a Big Picture franchise. “It’s gone very well,” he said. “With the great training I received, I was able to able to keep up with demand and provide the high level of service so important to the success of Big Picture Framing. We do beautiful custom framing at prices that are 30% off retail everyday, we turn around custom framing in one week or less, and we offer a lifetime guarantee on all our workthat package of services is awfully hard to beat!” It’s certainly energized Wilson, who loves running a Big Picture Framing store. “It’s got a lot of the elements that I love about working a high degree of teamwork, an environment that’s constantly presenting new challenges, contact with a lot of different people, and an appreciative audience I love everything about it!” And it showsthe store has a lively but focused atmosphere, where employee and customer alike seem to be having a really good time. “My staff is great, my customers are really super, and Big Picture Framing has a great business model. I’m starting to look for my second store!”
